Provincial Election 2011

Co‑op Housing Makes a Difference – Make your voices heard during the Provincial campaign!

Ontario voters go to the polls for the provincial election on Thursday October 6. In early August co‑ops will receive co‑op housing election brochures for each household and other election material in the mail from CHF Canada’s Ontario Region. Under the campaign theme Co‑op Housing Makes a Difference, our election material focuses on three main issues:

  • building more co‑op housing
  • reforming the co‑op eviction system
  • supporting and protecting existing co‑op housing.

We encourage co‑op members to:

  • talk to candidates at the door
  • attend and ask questions at all-candidates meetings
  • organize events at their co‑op
  • make sure all members vote.

We will be updating this website regularly with election news and more materials. For more information contact Harvey Cooper (ext 237) or Simone Swail (ext 238) at 1.800.268.2537. Or email our special campain email at ontarioelection@chfcanada.coop.

Co‑op sector looking for commitments on Eviction Law Reform

Recently the Ontario Region wrote individually to Ontario’s political party leaders seeking written commitments to table legislation to implement co‑op Eviction Law Reform. We will be publishing replies from Party Leaders as we receive them.

Join the co‑op campaign

We need volunteers throughout Ontario for the co‑op election campaign. Call your local federation or CHF Canada's Ontario Region for more information or to get involved.
