 The Ontario Region is the voice of housing co‑operatives on Ontario issues. We defend our members and work to promote co‑operative housing in Ontario. This involves working with governments to put in place new programs and to improve existing programs to make them work for co‑ops. The Ontario Region also works with other organizations to advance public policy in Ontario. Much of this work focuses on affordable housing and how to ensure Ontarians housing needs are met. Our work complements the efforts of our national office. Housing need in Ontario, outlines the need for more affordable housing in Ontario and the Ontario Region’s efforts to promote solutions that work. The Ontario government is currently working to develop a Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy.
