What is FCHE?

FCHE was founded in 1997 to take the place of an earlier association in developing, serving and representing housing co‑operatives in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. There are more than 30 member co‑ops in FCHE.

How is FCHE run?

FCHE is governed by a board of directors with one director from each member. The federation employs three full-time staff members.

Services

• Development assistance,
• Advice given over the phone
• Representation, insurance, planning, bulk-buying, management support and consultation
• Help for co‑operatives in difficulty

Trained instructors deliver workshops in co‑operative living and management.

By taking part in activites organized in Quebec by CQCH, as well as those organized nationally by CHF Canada, FCHE lobbies on behalf of co‑operatives in Quebec. A staff member represents the association at CHF Canada’s Federations Committee.
