The most easterly federation in Canada, CHANAL was founded in 1990 to serve and represent the housing co‑operatives of Newfoundland and Labrador. There are about 25 CHANAL members, who are also all members of CHF Canada. CHANAL takes part in the lobbying activities organized nationally by CHF Canada. A CHANAL volunteer represents the association at CHF Canada’s Federations Committee. How is CHANAL run? CHANAL is governed by a board of eight directors. The federation employs one full-time staff member. Services: CHANAL's member co‑operatives receive the following services as a benefit of membership:
For an extra fee, CHANAL also provides credit checks, mediation, bookkeeping, maintenance, and other support services. Staff members from CHF Canada and instructors who have participated in CHF Canada’s train-the-trainers program also provide workshops on co‑operative management and co‑operative living. |
