Hugh Garner Green Roof Project earns Jim MacDonald Award for Social Change
This year, CHF Canada presented the Jim MacDonald Award for Social Change to the Hugh Garner Green Roof Project. Toronto’s Hugh Garner Housing Co‑operative’s green rooftop project transformed the co‑op’s concrete high-rise rooftop into a green roof to both promote environmental sustainability and increase city green space. The project, once finished, will be the largest and most innovative in Ontario. In the long term it will improve the quality of life and reduce heating costs for the co‑op.
