We laughed and we cried

We cried when AGM guest speaker Stephen Lewis described women in Africa who were growing vegetables to feed their AIDS-stricken village, but also selling them to raise money for coffins.

We raised money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, to help women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

We laughed when Ontario members described their struggles with Ontario’s Social Housing Reform Act in a humorous way and we cheered when BC delegates marched into the meeting of Ontario members to show their support in song.

We applauded the members of Parliament who spoke to our meeting.

We talked passionately about the resolutions and voted on issues that will affect our co‑ops for the coming years. We elected representatives to the Board, Ontario Council and Finance Committee.

We honoured co‑ops and individuals who have made a difference to our movement.

CHF Canada’s annual meeting brought almost 700 co‑op members from across Canada to Edmonton, June 16–18.
